Large Old Dogon Decorated Ceremonial Wood Flute-AFRICA


An old Dogon ceremonial or ritual flute carved of wood. This large flute is adorned with a geometric linear pattern; a suspension element made of hand-forged iron still remains attached. This type of flute would have been used during important rituals and ceremonies, such as funerals and would be played by one of the people leading the procession.
Rich patina of age and usage – Collected in Mali.
