Old Lobi Wood Divination Fetish of a Chameleon-AFRICA
An old, ritually used and rare Lobi wood divination figure representing a chameleon, the sacred animal Nm kha.
The chameleon, hides and dissimulates itself in nature, and for this reason, is considered by the Lobi to embody the spirits of so-called sorcerers, whose remains had been disposed of in the burrow of the chameleons.
Nocturnal mammals, the chameleon is considered to possess the most dangerous Khl, or spirit. Despite its small size, it never hesitates to confront any kind of danger that it may face; its greatest power is its ability to metamorphose and camouflage himself in his surroundings.
